With great sadness and gratitude, we announce the passing of Liz Fitch on December 5, 2012, in her home on Hornby Island. Liz is survived by her three children and their families, Kathryn and David, Leslie George, and Geoff and Abigail, grandchildren Jessie, Andy, Aaron, Andrew, Gavin and Liam, and granddaughter Ingrid. Liz is also survived by her brother Bob, many beloved friends and extended family member. In the last years of her life, Liz enjoyed immense love and care of her caretakers in her beloved home on Hornby Island. After raising her children and having a career as a librarian at Catlin Gabel School in Portland, OR, Liz moved to Hornby in the 70’s where she was a pillar of the community and friend and support to many, with her companion Norm Walton, who preceded her in passing. Liz’s huge generosity of spirit, fierce independence, and loving support have been an inspiration and succor for all of us. She will be greatly missed. Memorial services will occur in the spring on Hornby at a date to be announced.
